Yes. In England, appeals are handled by the Valuation Office Agency (VOA). The first step is to ‘check’ the case and then, if you disagree with the VOA’s decision, you can move to the ‘challenge’ phase – at both points the VOA may change the rateable value they’ve set.
The latest rateable value list (April 2023) differs significantly from the old version (2017) so appeals are not unusual – but they can be complicated.
